Call for Short Story Writers for Indian Mythology

We are recreating stories from our ancient text like Mahabharat, Ramayan, Purans, Upanishads, Legends and Folktales for mobile audience, which means the following:

  • The language of the story should be common spoken language that is easy to understand and relate to
  • The length of the story should be ~10 minutes (800 to 1000 words). If a story is longer than 12 minutes, it can be broken into multiple episodes
  • The style of writing should be such that it needs to be narrated to the listeners and not read by them.
  • Appropriate research needs to be done from original/authentic sources and overall narrative and messaging of the story should remain true to the original story
  • Source material - You can use any book from the Indian mythology as source material but we are looking for a version that is rewritten for the smartphone audience. This may include Ramayan, Mahabharat, Vea, Puran, Upnishad, and any other book related to Indian mythology and history. You can find digital versions of these books on this page.
  • There is no deadline for this. You can share stories whenever you want.
  • Selected stories will be published on our platform with illustrations and narration along with proper credit to all the creators.
